Laney + Jonah's Linville Gorge Engagement PHotoshoot

The Linville Gorge, located in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina is nothing short of incredible and is one of my favorite spots ever. The vista views are amazing, and it is my go-to place to find solace when my life is pure chaos. With all of that said I am sure that it is no surprise that it had been a dream of mine for quite some time to create a photo session at one of my favorite spots in the magical Linville Gorge. So, I reached out to a lovely human being about potentially making her engagement photo session an adventure.

I was thrilled when Laney agreed to have her session in the Linville Gorge! I was even more ecstatic when she and her fiancé were willing to make the trek up this particular trail at sunrise AND in the AUTUMN. Laney is an amazing woman who just graduated from Appalachian State (my alma mater) and is working on continuing her education. A couple of years ago she agreed to a sunrise adventure photo session with me for her senior portraits and we captured some amazing shots. Needless to say, she is my dream client! The best thing about this session was the love that I could literally feel between Laney and her fiancé, Jonah. You can even see it radiating off of them in the photos. They are the sweetest couple.

Due to being sick I had to cancel our initial date we had planned for the shoot, but everything ended up working out perfect because the next date we picked happened to be when the fall foliage was at peak. Some things definitely happen for a reason. In order to beat the sunrise, our adventure began at the trailhead at approximately 6:15 am. We made it up with plenty of time to set up and for Laney to take the rollers out of her hair. The wind was blowing like crazy, and it was freezing, especially for Laney and Jonah who were in their dressy attire. The wind definitely added a whole other element to their photos. I think it helped make the photos.

The whipping wind was so cold, but it did not stop us, although we had to pause in between poses for Laney and Jonah to warm up in their coats. This gave the perfect opportunity to capture a couple of sweet shots of them warming up together.

I'm so excited to share with you the amazingly beautiful work we all created together. I can't forget to give some credit to my husband, Alex, who is a tremendous help to everyone on just about every photo shoot. He is there to help find spots, scope out lighting, hold your belongings, make you or your kids smile, and just about anything else you can possibly think of. Thanks, Alex! And thanks, Laney and Jonah, for waking up early and making the hike up a mountain for these gorgeous photos while you froze your butts off! I sure think they were worth it.

Stay tuned for tips for your next adventure photo session!
